Kid's Picnic Table

You may not know that I have a deep love affair with power tools. Almost every tool in the garage was gifted to or bought by me. A few years ago my table saw and I had a bit of a scuffle and though I've often been called Super Mom, I am not a woman of steel, and the table saw won. I lost a bit of my thumb, it was disgusting and I'll spare you the details....unless you really want them. This little incident caused some serious panic at the sound of a power tool. For quite some time I could not even handle the sound of power tools on TV, so I had a lengthy vacation from HGTV.

I finally got over my fear and back to building stuff, but then I had a few more kids, so the time for such things is non-existent it seems. Then I met Sonya, a woman who shares my love for tools and building things. Aaaaahhhh, my soul mate! Sonya has inspired me to get back out there in the garage and start making things again.

Today she brought over her 2 smallest kids and we let the kids play inside while we built some picnic tables. Much thanks to KnockOffWood for much inspiration. There will be many more projects to come.

I'll be either painting this or staining it in the near future. Of course the girls are requesting a bright pink table, but that ain't happening....maybe a bright blue.
