Out of the Woodwork!

Let me tell you what an awesome whirlwind the last 2 weeks have been. We've had 2 consecutive groups come to our church for their Spring Break mission trips. The first was 10 college students from College Station. The second, 50 middle school students from Knoxville, TN. These teams have worked so hard! They've come into our community, seen the harvest, and gotten to work. Each group spent their days in the surrounding apt. complexes ministering to kids, inviting families to church for evening activities, cleaning graffiti, picking up trash, cleaning and painting our facility, and more I'm sure.

Each evening a team was here we had Open Gym, and one night we had a movie on the big screen. We will typically have 50ish pre-K through high school students on a gym night. But the numbers the last few weeks have been too high to really count...easily 80-90 students, not including our team members. When we first started at Long Point we had 15 youth at our first Wednesday night deal. we were excited about that. Tonight (only 2.5 months later) we had 15 Pre-K and K, about 30 Elementary schoolers, and at least 45 youth.

While the sheer number of kids coming has blown me away, that is nothing! When we read about the early church and how thousands were coming to know Christ everyday, that's what this feels like. Every time we meet the gospel is presented. Every time, people are saved. I would venture to say that it is a rare week when someone has not come to faith. But these last weeks....insane! Every night there are kids and youth coming to Christ.

The harvest is great, but the workers are few. I am so grateful for these teams, because we seriously lack the manpower to get accomplished all that they have. So that's how you can pray for us. These kids will all be back next week, and hopefully on Sunday, and our 100 extra hands will be gone. We'll be back to our 6-7 leaders. We need willing adults to join us on this mission to bring the gospel of Jesus to a very ready community.
